DJI joined L-mount alliance, adds ProRes 4444 XQ video capture to Ronin 4D
DJI has announced it’s joining the L-mount alliance, making it the fifth member of the partnership that consists of Leica, Leitz Cine, Panasonic and Sigma.
The L-mount alliance’s self-proclaimed goal is ‘is to provide photographers with one unified lens mount standard […] to combine lenses and cameras made by the [five] Alliance partners. While not an open alliance, DJI has met the conditions set by the existing members and is now part of the alliance.

To kick off its induction into the alliance, DJI has announced a new Zenmuse X9 L-mount interchangeable lens mount plate, which will allow Ronin 4D users to attach Leica, Leitz Cine, Panasonic and Sigma L-mount lenses to their 6K or 8K rig. Previously, the Ronin 4D was limited to DJI’s proprietary DL mount, Leica M mount and Sony E mount options, which could be swapped with one another as needed.
Unrelated to the L-mount alliance news, DJI has also announced the Ronin 4D will soon support Apple ProRes 4444 XQ video capture, the highest-quality codec for Apple ProRes. As noted by Newsshooter, this is likely to make up for DJI pulling ProRes RAW capture from the device before the first units ever shipped out.
DJI hasn’t specified the cost of the new L-mount L-mount interchangeable lens mount plate, but considering the previous DJI, Leica M and Sony E mount options retail for around $300, it’s probably a safe bet to assume pricing for the L-mount version will be the same.
